Hey guys, guess what?! I’ve read a book and it’s made me realize things. Hahahahaha so vague, right?!
The book is What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty and it was so good! The first few pages were a bit strange, but once I got into it I could. not. put. it. down. Page turner, right here, folks! But besides being an extremely good read, it had a really great message. One that I think we all need to hear from time to time these days.
We make ourselves too busy with things that really just don’t matter; we take insignificant things too seriously. Think about it – you are so bogged down with mundane tasks like keeping a Pinterest-perfect house and having perfect hair every day that it begins to cut into your sleep and you start feeling miserable, more with each passing day and week. After several years of having this facade up, you have to wonder what it’s doing to the things that matter – your relationships and your sanity. Most likely those things are going to suffer, and when all is said and done, was it ever really worth it?
This book is an extreme reminder to put the phone down, quit nitpicking your partner (you are not perfect either!!!), stop stressing about the floors, and just throw your hair in a pontytail! Those things can wait – your relationships cannot.
Sound like something that maybe you’ve been struggling with lately? Maybe you didn’t even realize it? Anyway… I guess the takeaway here is that you should read the book and maybe let yourself sleep in tomorrow 😉
Oh, and enjoy life.
